Does someone have the mailing address for the corporate office? I understand it is in Mississauga. I am feeling the need to send a serious complaint letter to the SUITS. I've had just about enough of these people already.
Would appreciate the help.
Thanks. |

| Quote: | | Whats he problem anyways? | Yeah thanks, I finally dug deep enough into Google yesterday to come up with this address. Thanks for the The problem is that customer service is terrible. Terrible isn't quite the word for it but I'll have to consult the thesaurus for a better one. My mind is completely blown by how truly BAD they are at elementary problem-solving. We cannot be the only poor slobs in all of Canada to be switching from an existing Bell Sympatico high speed account/phone line combo AND using a mac. You would have thought we were asking them to re-invent the telephone or cure AIDS or something. It's still difficult for me to tell this story without salting in some expletives but short story is that I was on the phone with some moron or other totaling about 12 hours over 2 weeks trying to get the setup completed. This included mailing back the 1st router which as it turns out probably was NOT faulty. We have not been credited the 10 bucks we spent on that AND we were charged for that router because they don't bother to reference the RMA to the account--they leave that for the customer too. They just bill you for the thing and then wait for you to call screaming and then they just get the tracking number from you at that time. What a way to run a business. The most painful part of that whole debacle was that every new moron had to be told the whole story from beginning and had to go through the exact same setup steps. I finally lost my composure when about the 10th person tried to walk me through the setup instructions as they are printed on the idiot sheet that comes with the router--even though I tried to explain to every one of them that I had already done that part and it wasn't working. Oh and the security questions from every person I got transferred to. Jeez oh man, it isn't the Pentagon, right? We are also inconvenienced by the sales tactics: I had been cautioned not to speak to Bell about the transfer and then Bell shut down our service on a Thursday afternoon and told us they require 48 hours to schedule a dry loop installation--not the 4 hours between the transfer and the shutdown. We were without telephone or internet until Monday afternoon. Vonage managed to forward calls to my Rogers cell phone but now I can't call my home line from my cell. It forwards back to my Rogers voice mail. **** is that about? It certainly never happened before. Do you suppose Rogers will accept responsibility for it? HA. and yes, I did go into my Vonage account and remove any reference to my cell number. And we are getting our other calls on the house phone; those don't get bounced to the cell. Nope just the calls from the cell. It's a mystery to me. I'm not a techie. Oh and we signed up for one of those virtual numbers so some family in the states could call us for free. We picked it according to the name of the town because the number prefixes are not included in the list. Well the town name is wrong for the prefix we got and the call is not toll free for them. the Virtual number is useless and I suppose I'll have to talk to 10 more idiots to get that resolved too. I just re-read this and obviously I need to sit down calmly and reconstruct the events in a more rational and chronological manner. or no one of any merit will want to read my rant. Sigh. |

Patrick, sorry for the grief you have suffered with Vonage tech support, but for me I have nothing bad to say about them.
I don't remember you posting any problems on here about your situation, we as a group might have been able to help you out.
The instructions that came with the adapter are easy to follow especially if you are only using a cable or dsl modem plus the Vonage adapter. If you have to throw in a wireless router in the mix it is still easy to get going.
Now about the virtual number, if your family and friends live in a city that is on the list for the v-access numbers then they call that. if the city isn't on that list then you can't get a virtual number.
I can save you the $5.00 a month. If you family and friends have a computer and microphone with headset they can use Vonage Talk Vonage Talk
They download this program and they can call you for free and you answer your phone, you use your Vonage phone to call them since it is free anyways.
Now back to customer service, I call the number and I get the message: your wait time will be under 3 minutes and sure enough someone is talking to me right away. Sometimes patience is a virtue, I called up nice and polite and I got 2 months free Softphone service and the activation fee waived. I was just asking how the system worked and then he told me and I told him that I travel a lot overseas for work and he offered me the 2 months service.
Now since you have Bell, don't tell me that their customer service is fantastic, especially the Sympatico they are the worst. I would dump Bell altogether if possible and get another provider.
In the future if you have any problems post them on here or on the U.S forum you will get answers.
I hope you have your Vonage up and running properly very soon. |
