Vonage doesnt recommend that, but ok... I've seen many many built-in modems with a horrible noise, maybe you should see if the modem can actually dial out, or at least pick up dial tone without noise
Vonages official policy is that they don't support software faxing services. That being said, there are reports of limited success with things like DSL filters placed on the line, reversed. Also, their tech support can try to treat the fax modem like a credit card reader, and tweak it accordingly. sometimes they get lucky.
