PostPosted: Tue Mar 27, 2007 5:09 pm    Post subject: Wireless printing blues with dlink vwr router Reply with quote Back to top

I have a wireless Vonage dlink vwr router and I am unable to print to my networked printer. I have a desktop that can print but is hard wired to the router but the 2 wireless laptops cannot. I have internet on all machines the only thing i cannot do with this router is print from what i have seen.

I did call tech support but since no one speaks english as their first language I spent 5 minutes explaining things and just ended up hanging up frustrated and the tech guy still had no idea that i had a problem.

Some questions.

1. Run ipconfig on all 3 machines (1 desktop; 2 wireless laptops) and post the results.

2. How is the printer networked? Is it actually connected to the router or directly to your desktop via parallel or usb cable?

3. Have you actually run a home network wizard on your computers in your windows OS?

4. Do all the computers share the same workgroup name?

5. What exactly is your network setup, is there an additional router in play here?

my printer is plugged directly into the router.

What you want to do is the following:

Go to the Start Button on the lower left and choose "Run" which is the last one on the second column.

Then type in cmd

Then a dos window will open up and you will type in ipconfig /all

this should give you the details. You can then copy and paste it.

I'm not the orignal poster, but I have exactly the same problem. The network is mixed. 1 notebook running Win XP connected to the router and printing fine. 1 Mac connected and running fine. 1 PC running W2K wirelessly and it doesn't print.

The IPCONFIF of the wireless PC is:

Any help would be much appreciated.

The D-link Wireless router VWR will not support wireless printing! Vonage has offered to exchange this router for the motorola version and this will support the wireless printing.

well that adds yet another non-functioning feature of the VWR. I am not hearing very good things about this wireless router.
