If you are a Vonage customer in North Carolina, living in an location served by Windstream (formerly Alltel) landlines, are you having problems receiving phone calls >FROM< Windstream landlines >TO< your Vonage phone number?
I have had problems since Feb. 6 and Windstream has been unwilling/unable to resolve the issue (it is a routing problem on >THEIR< end, and they have confirmed this).
I have filed an FCC compalint (reference #07-W12833960). If you are having a similar problem, please let me know.
Thanks |

Check this topic: Your Answer. You will find my information starting with the third post. You will see that jcovert was extremely helpful with my problem. |

Thanks galion... close, but not quite the same. Windstream has admitted that the problem is on their end. Their switch does not accept my Vonage phone number & exchange as a valid number. Anyone else can call me just fine. A local pay phone that is routed by Embarq (instead of Windstream) works just fine.
I have had Vonage's carrier (Level3) run a trace and we have 100% identified the problem with a specifc Telcove switch, operated by Windstream. Windstream has admitted that its their problem (I have a Windstream trouble ticket). I'm trying to find other Vonage customer in my area (there's power in numbers).
My problem is that I'm unable to "force" Windtream to fix the problem, as I am not a Windstream customer. The NC Public Utitlies commision sees me as Voip customer and they do not regulate Voip. They will not let me log a complaint against a Telco that I am not a customer of.
I've sent a letter to Windstream corporate adivsing them of my FCC complaint. They still have 10 days to reply..... |

Telcove is owned by Level3, so if it's a Telcove switch that needs a config change can't they just do it?

I've talked with Level 3 (and have an open ticket). They say the translation is lost on the Winstream side -- Winstream is not routing the call to the switch.
As I said, any other carrier can call me. Windstream callers >NOT< from central NC can call me, too. |
