I had Vonage a few months ago before I moved, but when I moved my cable had said that they couldn't give me service where I moved to. I found out today that I CAN have cable here, so they will be out this afternoon around 2pm to hook up my service.

I am going to get phone through Vonage again; however I am wondering if I'm able to use the same equipment I used with them in january/february. My bill was paid in full, and all that jazz, and I did purchase the Linksys Broadband router with 2 phone ports Voip box Model number RTP300.

So, what do I do?? Just call them and start service again?? And I am assuming I would get the 30 day trial as well because the guy told me that once the number was disconnected, if i wanted service again I'd be considered a new startup.

Does anyone have any insight on this??

If your acct hasnt been disconnected you could just have it reactivated (there's a fee for that) and still use the same device unless the acct is term then you need to sign up as a new customer again.

However should there be a need for you to resignup inform then you already have a device so they wont send you a new one. Smile

Yes, the actual account was TERMINATED. they completly disconnected all phone connections. I was told that if I wanted to sign back up, I'd need to get a new phone number, which actually is fine by me, because today I found out that they now offer the area code for my city!! Very Happy
My main concern is if they are going to allow me to use the same equipment and if they are going to make me pay up front.
After reading all the stuff about whats going on with the court case now, I'm a bit concerned of signing up again. Sad If anything I suppose I could switch to my cable co's phone service if ever needed.

Considering I'm considered a new customer, I am assuming I will get the 30 days free. (I hope-- because I spent $400 starting up with a phone company and dish service when my stupid cable co. told me they coudln't hook my service up-- then I find out today that the tech just didn't want to go through the hassle of hooking up 6 rooms for service!!!)

Regarding court cases "ongoing" ones of course Vonage maintains it would not affect the service they're providing to their customers. There wont be changes on the current bills nor condition. Yes maximize using their 30-day trial period. If you could even ask for an extension or another free month. It would work to your advantage at least just to make sure Vonage is the best phone option for you in your new location.

some companies consider a new customer who hasn't had their service for 6 months, call Vonage and find out.

I general, Vonage has a policy against re-activating devices that were once used for Vonage and are now inactive. However, since you are the original owner, they will probably be willing to do it. You'll have to call customer service to get the details taken care of.

No, as long as there is nothing owed on the equipment it CAN be reactivated again. I am now a happy Vonage customer again. Just cost 29.99 and took 5 minutes. Very Happy Lol Rolling Eyes
I did ask them about that, and that is what they told me that as long as nothing was owed on the bill for the equipment (like someone disconnecting their service or their cc expiring and them failing to give Vonage a new one and just letting their service get terminated) the box can be reactivated by ANYONE. It doesn't matter if I throw it in the trash and someone finds it and they activate it. Good thing I didn't sell it on ebay like I was going to!! But, now, I have to sell my dsl modem and my dishnetwork box. LOL Mad I purchased those outright and they were NOT cheap!! The dish network box was $199.99 and the dsl modem was $100 Sad Confused

Thanks for the feedback. In the past we've always been told that Vonage does not like re-activating old units. I'm not surprised that they would do it for the original owner, but I am surprised to hear that they will do it for anyone.

You should be able to sign up and activate your device on Vonage.com.

And that's it.

If the device is behind another router, try setting up using a static IP for your device.

That is correct! You can activate any Vonage device onto your account as long as the device is not active on any other account and there is no balance on the account that it used to be active on.
