Hey,
I had a missed call today and the number was 0123456789, redialled it and the phone said the number was not valid. I am very intrigued to where the call came from and why it could not be called back! Any ideas? |

Well 01234 is actually a dialing code for a town in Buckinghamshire I Think ,as a friend of mine had it with Vonage, but they lived in Yorkshire and liked the look of it (hence you being able to have any area code u like!) It could be just a glitch in the caller ID system or even your device, or it may have been a sales call where their system makes up a spoof ID so that you can't call them back. Until it gets constant I would'nt worry about it too much. Apparently looking at the American Vonage forum their Caller ID is grim, its so poor, so lucky us! |

From what I have seen - Skype Out calls to PSTN numbers (and Vonage looks like a PSTN call to Skype since it connects that way) show up with that Caller ID. If the caller does not have Skype In, you can't call back anyway - so there is not all that much use for the number. Voice mail is the best option in that case - get a message and call back from the message that is left (if they were looking for you to start with). |

01234 is a BEDFORD (predominantly) area code
although 01234 888888 would correctly be Turvey (01234) 888888
as the exchange retained it's identity rather than being renamed Bedford.
Oftel records show that numbers starting 01234 56xxxx are allocated to Net Solutions Europe Limited. Note that due to number portability if an individual number has moved to a different operator this information is not publically available. Oftel's last recorded change for this number range was in November 2005.
A table of the code allocations for other numbers starting 01234 is available
01234 567890 may be on one of the following exchanges in this area:
Bedford 01234 Colmworth (Beds) 01234 37xxxx Haynes (Beds) 01234 38xxxx North Crawley 01234 39xxxx Oakley (Beds) 01234 82xxxx Turvey (Beds) 01234 88xxxx |
