If they were in the 9th Circuit they would have a better chance of winning!
The case is out of DC I believe.
I think it's actually Alexandria, VA. (DC burbs, but VA)
Verizon has their HQ there, don't they?

Verizon looks like a shaddy company, even on their homepage, you get redirected to all kinds of portals for security reasons ?!!?!
I just hope they won's win, although...

The case is Verizon Services Corp v
Vonage
Holdings, 06-cv-682, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. The court has four divisions: Alexandria, Newport News, Norfolk, and Richmond.
http://www.vaed.uscourts.gov/
This case was heard in Alexandria.
The case lists the plaintiffs as Verizon Services Corp with principal offices in Arlington, VA and Verizon Laboratories with principal offices in Waltham, MA. That's the former GTE Automatic Electric Laboratories; I once interviewed for a job at that location programming their electronic switch way back in 1975.
Verizon justifies its choice of location based on the location of its HQ, the fact that
Vonage
has customers and does business in the Eastern District of Virginia (and the claim that
Vonage
has infringed on the patents within the Court's jurisdictional area), and the current work and residence location of at least one of the inventors.
Appeal from this District is to the 4th Circuit Court of appeals in Richmond, VA.

Frankly at this point all I care about is keeping my phone number, service, and at the same price. We will see what is going to happen.
I agree in that
Vonage
offers things that I can't get any place else. I didn't move to
Vonage
lightly, as I read all of the reviews and saw all of the people having problems with connections. Overall, I've never lost a call and people who I talk to can't tell if I'm on a land line or a
Voip
line.
If
Vonage
goes, I don't know what I'll do. It will not be replaced by a land line or other
Voip
service. I'll switch to my cell, which is Verison, which I really like.

Vonage
says they will continue their service and there won't be any disruption on the service (as long as you have your broadband internet of course) nor would they change the rates. As long as the price and the service would not change I see no problem at all.

That is so un-true.
It depends partly on your ISP.
Then it depends on their ISP too. And this is already their problem. The customer doesn't have to suffer because they made a poor choice ISP-wise.
And let's not forget that systems crush, servers have functioning failures, etc etc...this being their problem too.
So, don't try to blame this all on the customers ISP!

Absolutely.
And your network.
And your router.
And your
Vonage
settings.
And your bandwidth.

Well I've had
Vonage
for quite some time now. I never had any problems until recently. My ISP keeps having their router blink. How do I know it is not
Vonage
? (1) Everything in the house drops the connection; (2) I never lose any lights on my cable modem; (3) all I do is reboot my cable modem (which belongs to the ISP) and everything works. Funny thing, the
Vonage
service is first to come online after a reboot. Maybe I'm just lucky.
As for Verizon I have one response, "Pound salt." Of all the POTS companies I've had, Verizon and Sprint tie for last place. I've moved a LOT. BellSouth was in first place. Of all the cell service I've had Verizon was worst in dropped calls and service, Alltel was best. If you add up ALL of my telecommunications through time,
Vonage
takes first place with fewest outages and best customer service. Again, just lucky I guess.
Now, don't discount that I do have all of my networking equipment on a UPS. That probably helps.
