can somebody be so kind to help me with this problem??? you see, I have just installed Vista on my computer and i cant get my wireless to work. the windows network dianostics are telling me to push my "wireless on" button but i do not have drivers for it. also i cant find out whats the name of my laptop. any windows hotkeys i can use or anything? or how can i find out the name of my laptop? (i have already tryed control panel) please i need the wireless for school. btw. sorry for the crappy english, I'm from norway.
vista is still young, and as with the other versions of windows, it will get better with each service pack release. Vista has many draw backs as of now. wireless configurations on systems running on vista will most likely get weird problems.
let me ask you some questions: are you using encryption?WPA? if you are,(or even if you are not) most likely solution for this would be to go to your computer manufacturer's website or the manufacturer of the wireless NIC.
Issue is not with Vista but with the DRIVER of the wireless NIC. When you upgrade your system to Vista, the wireless NIC still retains it’s previous driver from WinXP. In some cases, Vista will automatically assign a driver to the wireless NIC upon installation but this driver is still NOT compatible with Vista. The driver must be updated in order to support WPA. You may search or advise the customer to look for the most updated driver from the website of the manufacturer of his computer or laptop OR from the website of the manufacturer of his wireless NIC.
