Vonage will waive the disconnection fees if you have been with them for over a year.
Eventhough that sounds like contract to me but they claimed it is not a contract. They will just waive the fee after 1 year

Thanks for the response. Actually the 1 yrs applies only for those who signed up before Feb 2007. All those who sign up after January 2007 or on Feb 1 2007 would have to keep the svc for 2 yrs or the disco fee would not be waived.

Brick wall If you knew that... Why did you ask???

Other companies are close to the 1 year. Although the new thing now is pre-paying, and they offer either no refund or limited pro-rated refunds, based on how long you were a customer. It is possible to get a full pro-rated refund from some.

Bell in Canada had a scam going. If you bundled your phone, cell phone and internet you got a better price, but if you canceled one of these services you got hit with a $200 connection fee. I wasn't aware of this when I signed up to bundle my home phone and cell phone and internet. Their internet service sucked big time so I canceled it. Next month I had a bill for $200.00. I argued the point that I never signed no contract for this and I got out of it. I was then billed $200.00 on my master card for bell satellite, I then called Master Card and they removed the charge and Bell said that I ordered it.

With Vonage you are made aware of the disconnection fee before you order it. I still call this a contract. Most companies require 30 days notice before disconnecting, but since Vonage "gives" you the adapter that is probably why they have the disconnection fee.

disconnection fee will be waived after a year you subscribed to Vonage. ( regular plan - residential or business )

you have to stay as a Vonage customer for 2 years for the disconnection fee to be waived IF you have the annual premium unlimited plan which started feb 1, 2007.

I used "that" subject so that people who dont have any idea what they are getting into would know there IS a disconnection FEE for almost all Voip services. At least those who dont read the TERMS OF SERVICE would make sure to read it now and even if they don't after reading this they would still have an idea there is a disco fee. Razz

Sounded like you were asking a question to what are the cancellation fees for Vonage and other Voip providers. I knew there was a disconnection fee with Vonage if I cancel before the 1 year mark, I was told that before I signed up.

Yes that was the idea. Anyway, good thing you understood nothing is for free indeed. Unfortunately some who signed up thought there were no disco fee.
