Unfortunately, here, Cable Modem is pretty much it. DSL and FiOS are not available. There is a WiFi provider who is probably in range, but I'll have to put up an antenna to get above the treeline to reach them (and permission to do that is somewhat doubtful, to be honest, since I'm in the flight path for a Naval Air Station and P-3 Orion subhunters tend to "scrape the trees" flying over my house (grin).
But, my Cable ISP's connection has been pretty reliable, and no packet drops, lag, or jitter. It isn't the fastest thing on the planet, but it is perfect for Voip. And it's not Verizon.  |
