They're just jealous because cable companies don't offer VoIP, the best they can do is packetized voice. I refuse to pay the cable companies for video or data services since it takes nearly an hour to get them on the phone even to give them money.

Vonage has had their hiccups (as has BellSouth) but in the long term, they are both very reliable. I experienced nothing like my neighbors who were without cable service for 3 weeks due to the last ice storm.

Vonage is currently upgrading their system. I was told by one of the Cust Svc Rep who was very polite earlier and apologized for the incovenience but told her it aint her fault so will just callback this friday about the V phone. I still havent decided if I should join the Voip service except for the Yahoo online Calling feature wc is of course for Free Wink

The long run is undecided with the Verizon decision. The accounts I have aren't just mine, I just manage them for people and businesses. When they hear in the news that Vonage might go Bye Bye, they tell me to find an alternate.

Here in NY cable service is very solid, What service do you have?

An update you don't do during the day and you make sure it doesn't last 3-4 hours.

If the outage is over where you are, it's still not over here (in Sedona, AZ). Inbound dialing still goes to my Newtork Outage back-up phone (which it wasn't even doing earlier in the day). Please advise.

And while you're at it, please enjoy the view of my "back yard" ---

Could this have anything to do with it?

Utility pole split, power lost from DWI accident
At 12:47 p.m., police received a report of a serious accident on West Main Street in the area of the Vonage offices. Police determined that a 2006 Nissan Armada sport utility vehicle driven by Nicole Devaney, 34, struck a utility pole, severing it in half and leaving the top half hanging from electrical wires.

Can the guy who started the thread reply too? It's THU morning and we've still got an outage here in AZ. I've done everything I need to do to reset. My high-speed connection is fine. What's the deal? I don't feel like calling customer service again and waiting for 45 minutes to find out that they are still working on it. Please provide an update here when you get a chance. We're almost up to 24 hours here.

OK... so by this response, I take it that we ALL still have an outage? That's what it sounds like. I do think that we're at around hour 21 or so. I know it was around 10AM pacific (you know, Arizona/Mountain STANDARD Time) when I first noticed that I couldn't make a call. I'm glad the network outage forwarding is working at least. When someone calls me, it goes to my cell.
