Since the modem is IP Gateway, there might be firewall configurations that may be needed on it to open ports for Vonage device. |

Okay, but nothing has changed, and I have had Vonage for almost a year. Now after rebooting and changing the bandwidth settings I am still getting dead air and it only seems to be certain phone numbers versus others. My virtual one never has dead air. If I don't resolve it soon, I will have to start from scratch and go to a different Voip since I cannot resolve it |

Okay, I am disabling axon pbx system, as it seems that is when this trouble started or I did not have it configured correctly. Can this cause the dead air on incoming calls? The instructions for this system are not clear enough for me so out it goes. Let me know if anyone has had this experience |

Well these are some of the things i read in axon'z site
1. Your Voip provider may not like Odd RTP packets being forwarded. Tick the checkbox in the 'Advanced Line Settings' for the External line you are using that says 'Prevent Odd RTP Ports Being Forwarded' and try the call again. If the audio still fails then turn the option back on.
2. There is a firewall blocking a port that the audio comes through. Check there are no firewalls running that could interfere with ports or programs.
Hope it helps. |

1)Get the Make and Model of your modem. 2)goto http://www.portforward.com, and click the 'port forwarding' link. 3)Find your modem on the list, click it. 4) Choose Vonage from the next list, and follow the instructions.
It's possible your modem/gateway took a firmware change which upgraded it's firewall capabilities.
*Optional* - Look through the settings of your modem, and find the DHCP settings. Then log into your Vonage device and set a static IP outside the DHCP server range. Make sure you have the DNS servers provided from your ISP.
If you are still having issues, then set what's called a DMZ to your Vonage from the web administration of your modem.
I hope this helps. |

Still having the dropped audio and since the broadband connection test is great and my Voip testing looks great, and my whole set up is not new, I looked to my own connections and maybe they got changed during the recent office renov. I found one of my Vonage adaptors plugged into my main computer where everything is set up via the ethernet plug and that adaptor plugged into my broadband router and the router into the broadband cable modem. I also found an ethernet cable with broken clips. So I bought a new cable and now the home networking is router to computer, two Vonage phone adaptors and router to broadband cable modem. Do you think I may have resolved the issues? I will let you know from my end, but just wanted some feedback in case I am getting excited for nothing.... |
