They certainly are not listening here. This is a privately owned forum & not a part of Vonage..... just like it says all over the site.

Sorry to hear about your problems. Lesson I take from it is never cut your land line till your positive the Voip is working.

I realize this is a privately owned forum but would hope that Vonage cares enough to troll forums like this and put out small fires before they become bigger ones.

Im my case this was a new line of service for our business and the problem is only with v-mail called from our toll free number. Other than that, I like the service.

Don't count on it. I've never heard of anyone getting contacted as a result of a post in these forums. Judging from the number of issues out there, I'd be surprised if they had the free time.

(meaning there are tickets that stil have not been answered since sept.) ... wait on the line for 30 min and get your issue resolved ... there are just too many damn messages for 300 people to handle..

Simple answer: hire more help desk employees to answer phones and reply to emails, and implement a "live chat" online the company website. Saving money by hireing too few employees at the expense of the customer is a blueprint for failure.

All it will take is another financially leveraged company who can afford to hire staff and implement new technology to dominate this very new market. Vonage may be missing their opportunity if they fail the customer service test.

Compuweb I agree about hiring more people. They do have classes coming out but they have to go through 8 weeks of training before they hit the floor. Problem is what percentile of the people that comprise the class actually make it to the floor? Not many. It sory of like a sea turtle hatching hundreds upon hundreds of eggs. How many baby turtles make it from the wet sands of the beach safely into the water? Not many. Turn over is keeping pace with the rising price of gas.

Hiring people is easy. Keeping them is even harder. I would say out of a class of 50 20 will get fired and another 12 will quit during the first 3 weeks.

Well that leaves 10 or so extra hands on deck to help answer customer issues and the what not. Not very many if you ask me. Vonage will need to entice and retain quality people (I say start paying what the labor and statistics wage rate across the nation for starters).

Managers down to the technical reps aren't being paid their worth and such take the job to 'pay bills' but are always in the paper looking for more opportunity.

Other than that the service rocks,

Mole

If only they could figure out that toll-free number transfer thing. You see, many businesses have toll-free numbers that they are not willing to throw out just to save a few bucks on monthly phone service. Compuweb uses 888-compuweb for it's phone number and has it printed everywhere ... if we were to switch to Vonage they could not transfer our toll-free number ... which to say the least, is important to us.

When do you think this snaffu will change?

compuweb I would say the transferring of toll-free numbers (along with fax lines) will come but no time soon. Maybe whenever Vonage gets a few heavy hitting CLECs that have reciprical agreements with other carriers (contracts and the sort) that you will be able to transfer such a number. But as it stands I agree, a business should not get rid of their toll free to save a few bucks..Hell you're spend more having Kinkos print up the flyers with the new number.

There are so many areas of improvement if Vonage would just grab the bull by the horns and resolve them they could KEEP the market share. But look around..slowly but surely Voip service providers are creeping in with features that businesses salivate over (see http://www.packet8.net to see what i'm talking about: hell they have music on hold, anonymous call block, conference bridge (forget 3 way with them u can conference in 20 legs)
