I was trying to install my new service with no luck.My broadband connection comes from a wireless connection. On the side of my house is a transmeter with a cat 5 cable going from the transmeter to my living room.At my living room connection i have a 3 position adapter that plugs into the cat 5 cable,1st position of the adapter plugs into the cat 5,2nd position of the adapter plugs into the power outlet, third position plugs into the ethernet on my computer.I tried plugging the adapter into the Vonage device, tested for dialtone at the telco ports. No dial tone, but had a message that said ,your telephone connection.Nothing else.

Instead of taking the cat 5 to the computer take it to your Vonage adapter and then from the adapter to your computer.

This should work the same way as someone with DSL or cable. I have my cable wire into the cable modem, then into my wireless router and then into the Vonage adapter.

You forgot the transmitter in the equation. I would figure the transmitter like a wireless router.

1. transmitter
2. Vonage adapter
3. computer.

Im lost. The transmeter is on the north side of my house on roof. There is a cat 5 cable from the transmeter to my living room.I have no access to the transmeter. In my living room is the cat5 cable end.The isp supplied me with a 3 position adapter.1st part of the adapter goes to the power outlet.2nd part plugs in to the cat5 cable.3rd part plugs in to the ethernet of computer. There is no modem/router.I plugged the rj45 of the adapter in to the Vonage internet port, then ran another cat5 cable from the ethernet port on Vonage device to the computer.I could not surf or pull and ip.I then checked for dial tone on the Vonage device teloc ports.I had a recording that said your telephone connection is.I would like to submit pics to you if able to.

I have the same problem with my Vonage VT2142. I have been trying to configure it. Set it to DHCP. It connected once and I saw the phone 1 and phone 2 and power lights blinking rapidly at the same time. I thought it was an error so unplugged the router. It was then that I found out after reading the PDf file on the CD that came with it that the router was updating its firmware. Is these one of the causes that my router won't connect anymore? I also notice that the ethernet light was always off but I can access the router through the computer by typing "http://192.168.15.1/" in the internet explorer address bar. When I change the hardware in which my wireless broadband goes when I run internet explorer it redirects to the portal of my wireless provider - FYI. Is there a minimum speed of the internet that has to be met in order to use the Vonage router?
