For the record, I'm the network guy - I just got caught hoff guard with this one:
Client has 3 Voip phone numbers and two V1005 modems. The one box is the primary line and the fax, the second is the roll-over line.
We need to hook these behind a firewall.
1. How do we do this so we can access the config on both modems? 2. How do we set up the netgear to "route" the traffic? We can't DMZ it since it is two modems afterall... can we? 3. Before I was here, in the previous office, they had one behind the firewall and one ahead. Why did this work? How long could it work if we have to go back to it? 4. Can we get a modem with more than two phone jacks?
Also, I have been on hold for 30 minutes - is this normal? |

From all that I have read, you can ONLY access the config on the "modems" / MTA's via a pc connected directly to the MTA itself.

To my knowledge, you should be able to just forward the ports, however, you would have to forward the same ports to two different devices, unsure how or if you can do that. BUT...and here is the kicker, you WILL NOT have QoS on that Netgear router. so you may have audio quality issues depending on the upstream bw and what type of network usage is happening during the calls.

no, from my requests for information from Vonage, they do not support any terminal adapters that have more than 2 ports, believe me, i have been asking.
