Hi,
Every day at exactly 12pm, my Telewest land line stop working. I can't receive or make any calls. It's been happening for many weeks. This only occurs when the Vonage Linksys RT31P2 is attached to the Telewest broadband cable modem. If I reboot everything, it's ok again.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and do you know what the cause is? Telewest say they don't know!
Is there some sort of timer setting in the RT31P2 that could be causing this, or is it just faulty?
Thanks, Paul |

My Parents Have Vonage and are Telewest (Or should I say now Virgin Media) customers and their service is very smooth. Ensure that you have your Vonage router set correctly with DHCP and auto Renew. It sounds like when they renew their IP your Vonage router does'nt respond. |

Are you using any extension wiring that was previously hooked up to Telewest or do you just have the phone plugged into the back of the Vonage box? |

When my parents disconnected their old BT line I removed it from their Main/extension sockets (to be sure there was nothing being pushed back onto BT line) and then I got a regular modem cable (with a BT plug on one end, and a small RJ11 on the other) and simply plugged it into an extension socket upstairs, then the signal ran thru all other extensions in the house. JUST A WORD OF WARNING: YOU MUST ENSURE THAT THE INCOMING BT/TELEWEST PHONE LINE IS COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM THE MAIN SOCKET BEFORE DOING THIS, IF NOT SURE THEN LEAVE WELL ALONE AND CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL. |

Thank you all for taking the trouble to help.
After pressing Virgin to investigate further, the landline seems to be behaving itself recently so I can only assume they changed something but they didn't say what.
Regards, Mark |
