My question is, Can you run 2 phone adapter with different numbers from different providers on the same home network? I find that when I plug the second adapter in the router is works fine, but the first adapter loses it's dial tone. Is there anyway to make this work?

Thanks

If the adapters have routers built in, check that the IP address ranges are different (not all 192.168.1.x). If not, change them. This should work without trouble.

I don't think so. But i could be wrong I am new at this. I am using a using a Linksys model WRT54GX2, wireless router, the 2 phone adapters , one is with earthlink Linksys model SPA-2100, the other is Vonage linksys model PAP2, the Vonage one will work fine , but the earthlink one will lose dial tone when I connect the Vonage adapter to the router. Is there a way to change the ip address with what I have?

You should be able to change it from the admin interface of the device. It is different on different devices.

Each device has an admin interface - both TA's as well as the router. You can administer them from their WAN side (via your router) or with the PC lugged directly into the device - if it offers a LAN port.

You need to log in to the PAP2 & SPA and go to the system tab. Change the Static IP. and ensure that the netmask, gateway, and DNS are set up correctly.

Dial **** from the phone connected to the device. At the prompt dial 110#. It will then read off the IP address of the device. Enter that in your web browser to log in.

BTW, the answer is YES you can run 2 adapters on 1 network provided you have sufficient bandwidth. .
