I live in a wireless Apt building with out access to the main router.
NO ONE has been able to help me here. 2 months and counting.

I have WET54G Linksys and the Motorola VT2142 and my laptop which is connected to the internet wirelessly.

in therory these componets should make the magic happen. But no.

I have the Bridge)WET54G connected and the signal 95% so now how do I get the VT2142 to be part of the party.

Thanks for any help,

I would think this is possible, have you contacted Vonage to see what they say?

Since you have a wireless router you can get the internet, run the cable from the wireless router into the Vonage adapter. I do remember asking this question if I want to take my adapter with me on the road to use in hotels with wireless connections.

Here is how to do it:

you have to reverse it. To make it work, you must have a laptop with BOTH a wireless connection, and a ethernet port. you also will need a ethernet cable. Heres what to do using windows xp-

1.go into network connections in the control panel.
2. get connected to the wireless network on ur laptop.
3. Plug the ethernet cable into the WAN port of the router, and the other end into ur laptop ethernet port.
4. Now in network connections, highlight BOTH the wireless connection, and the ethernet connection(called local area connection). Right click, and select "bridge connections".
5. Thats it.

that should work like a charm. If it doesnt, the hotel might have the ports blocked, in which case ur sol.

Here is where I found it: http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic12673.html

Dealing with Vonage support is a joke. I've paid for 2 months service already and they have yet to give me anything I can use.

When I try to bridge connections this is the message I receive:

To create a Netowrk Bridge you must select at least 2 LAN or high-speed internet connections that are not being used by internet sharing

Let me explain my situation again

Wireless apt building....great connection. No access to the router which is in a different part of the building

Linksys reccomend the WET54G wireless bridge. Just a LAN port on this device. Status says my link is 95+%

So that last piece of the puzzle i hope is the Vonage device-Motorola Vt2142. I can not access the manual set up page for this.

On paper is seems simple but then it always does.

Thanks for your help

Hi roscopco,
I have done the same thing as you described. But when I bridge the connections, my internet doesn't work. Why is that?
