We have tryed slowing the transmission rate, rebooting the black box. Vonage only told me that this can't be fixed. I am not sure if I got a bad tech support person or they can't fix it. Does anyone have any good information on this problem? I am using a brother 4100 fax machine. The message that i get is poor line condition. I have tryed the photo mode, standard mode and the overseas mode. |

I see many reports of fax problems, but I hpersonally have had no issues. No special procedure, just dial. Is this a widespread problem? |

I don't know if it is a widespread problem that is why I am asking for help to find out. Tech support said that they could not fix the problem. I may have reached a tech person that just did't know. We are not using the fax line as of yet. Sure would like to use it, we are using the old standard phone line instead. that does not hepl Vonage in my eyes. |

I had problems with my fax machine in the beginning with the cisco box. they got it fixed and it was fine. Then we got the moto box and it started all over again. it took a lot longer to get it fixed. I had just learned to live with it, basically, and used *99 as well as the dsl line filter backwards. One day a tech and I were talking about another issue and he said he was sure he could fix it. My problem was mainly with anything over one or two pages. He went in and changed a few things and I faxed him a 17-page document. I've had very little problem since then. I switched to the linksys router recently and did not have to go back to troubleshooting mode. The other day I had a problem sending twice. I had stopped using *99, etc., because it had been so error-free. I put back in *99 and the fax went fine.
I would suggest you just keep working with differnt techs. I have an HP G85, not a brother, but I think you'll get it resolved if you get the right person to help.
also, there's a special kind of phone line that's mentioned either here or on the broadband forum that seems to make a difference when people are at their wit's end. You might search threads here and there and see if you can find it.
Good luck |
