Hi, I need to configure my new cell phone Nokia E65 to work with my Vonage line. It has a built in support for Voip. Has anyone successfully done this? Can this be done?

I went to the Nokia site here in Canada and that phone doesn't exist. I did a google search and I did find an article on the phone, but again it says it isn't released yet, it was from India. They didn't say how you can get Voip on it though.

It is not released in Canada, but you can buy it through eBay. I was going to get the N80, but this looks to be better. Only if I can get it to work with Vonage |

Ok, I went to Ebay and seen the phone, wow $400 is a lot of money for a phone. You can buy a Voip phone for much less. I asked the seller the question, I will post it here if they answer.
I would thing you would have to be in a hot spot for the wi-fi Voip to work, just like the Vonage wifi phone, I could be wrong though. |

Well, I would be at work and I could get the WIFI connection without a problem. I want to know if Vonage uses any of the standard protocols for Voip and how I could get the information (server, userid, etc) from Vonage to configure my Voip phone. It is really cool, because then I can do call waiting with my Voip phone and normal cell phone service.
Please advise |

Vonage uses SIP, so if the phone is compatible it "should" work. However, you should note that Vonage does not allow "Bring Your Own Device" on their main accounts. You would need to sign up for an extra soft phone account, get the SIP information to put into the phone, and register with Vonage that way. Again, I have no idea if this phone works or not on the Voip side, but even if it works, you'll need to use a soft phone account from Vonage. |

I am not sure if I follow your point about main account. So does this mean that I can not get a softphone for my main account? I do have multiple lines, but I would like to use my cell phone with the first line that I got from Vonage. Does that make it the main account?
Thanks |

The Vonage soft phone offer is $10/month for 500 minutes (then there is a small charger per minute). This is an add on to a regular account ($24.99 Unlimited or $14.99 500 minutes). You need first a regular account, then you would add a soft phone account to it. |

But does the soft phone work with the same number? |

No - the soft phone has a separate number. You can set your main number to simultaneously ring the soft phone number so that you'll get incoming calls, but outgoing calls go from the soft phone number not the "main" number. |
