I am not sure of that one - others on the forum may be better at that. My guess is that you could make the change, but Vonage would consider that as an account cancellation - so if you are still within the 1 year cancel time, you would owe them some money.
Also, you should be aware that you can't use a Vonage branded (locked) device with a soft phone account, so the adapter that you have will not work after you switch. Similarly, you can't use an unlocked device, like your phone, with a regular Vonage account. This is not technology based - it is Vonage marketing policy. |

Before you do this; I can not guarantee that the settings will work. I have an N80 that works great with Vonage, however I have recently purchased and E65 and it will not connect, both units are S60 so the issue could be firmware ver. related. Other than that here they are:
Tools--> Settings-->Connection-->SIP Settings
Profile Name: Vonage (Or what ever you choose)
Service profile: IETF
Default access point: (Choose what ever is applicable to you)
Public user name: sip:(1+ your Vonage softphone number)@sphone.vonage.net
Use compression: No
Registration: (Choose what ever is applicable to you)
Use security: No
Proxy server Proxy server address: None
Realm: 216.115.20.41
User name: (1+ your Vonage softphone number)
Password: (Your password)
Allow loose routing: Yes
Transport type: Auto
Port: 5060
Registrar Server Registrar server address: sip:sphone.vopr.vonage.net
Realm: sphone.vopr.vonage.net
User name: (1+ your Vonage softphone number)
Password: (Your password)
Transport type: UDP
Port: 5060
Hope this helps and works for you. |

I asked Vonage if I bought a Voip phone from a friend who disconnected their Vonage account, could I hook it up for my regular Vonage number to point to it, for wireless phone service. the following is the reply from Vonage
I also see that you would like to activate Wi-fi device on your account which you have purchased from your friend whose account is disconnected. You will have to register its WAN MAC address to Vonage. You can do this either by calling our Voice Support or you can activate the device on your account by following the steps below: 1. Copy and paste this URL into your web browser: http://www.vonage.ca/retail_subscribe/ . 2. Select the "Current Customer Login" option . 3. Enter the Username and Password for your Vonage Online Account and Click on "Continue" tab . 4. Select "I purchased a Vonage phone adapter that I want to add to my account" and Click on the "Continue" tab . 5. Select Move existing line(s) to a new device and Click on the "Continue" tab . 6. Enter the WAN MAC address of the device you purchased and Click on the "Continue" tab. The WAN MAC address can be found on the base of your device. Follow the remaining screen prompts to select the phone number and move it to a phone port on your new device. Your number will be activated on your new device and no longer active in the old device. If you have any questions, your Vonage team is available to assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Contact us whenever and however it suits you!
has anyone done this.. does it actually sork |

This is a corrected configuration for Symbian OS Nokia phones. Aparently there is an issue with DNS name resolution in the realm field of the SIP stack so the entries now reflect the IP address rather than the DNS name. Also this config uses port 5061 for the registrar server port. This configuration has been tested on Nokia N80, E61, E65, and N95 and works great.
