I have been dealing with this problem since last year. I get one way audio sometimes. when I pick up the phone and dial sometimes no incoming audio can be heard. resetting the hub fixes this. First let me say I am tired of rebooting the hub every time I want to make a call, so THAT IS NO SOULITION.
I will explain in detail, so pay attention, and dont speak up unless you can step up.
when I pickup the phone I get one way audio (outgoing only). I also get the same effect when changing my IP address. Now, my PC is connected to the hub aswell, and when I get one way audio my PC connection is flooded with connections from the Vonage server. This I can see across my firewall. My PC is configured for DMZ (because the RTP300 firewall is awkward and featureless), which may be why I am seeing Voip connections routed to my PC. I am NOT using a softphone. Upon rebooting the hub all returns to normal.... for awhile. 4 or 6 hours later it will do the same thing.
By the way port forwarding is not working properly under firmware 1.01.07, but thats another story.
I have tried many things, to no avail. This is the last straw.

I believe the suggestion was to remove the "hub" from your network. Only use the Vonage adapter directly connected to the modem.

I see. First time I've heard anyone call a Voip adapter a "hub". Appears that both jayson and I didn't follow your unique lingo.
Good luck getting any help with the "Duh" attitude.

There is nothing unique about the word 'hub' describing a device such as the RTP300. You just made a newbie mistake. Tecnically it is a router/hub.
As for Duh, all I meant was that It would be obvious that the hub meant the RTP300 to anyone with any technical skills. since I clearly listed my network components.
If its over your head or unproductive dont bother posting.
Can anyone say why I lose incoming audio periodically, and/or after changing my IP? And have to reset my hu... 'Vonage adapter' |
