I currently have a LinkSys WRT54GP2 from way back when.. which is not working well at all..the Vonage goes out, the wireless locks up, and I have to keep resetting the router.
Sooo...I'm looking to buy a new Wireless Router (not LinkSys) and a standalong Vonage adapter. Looking for suggestion on what brand/model of Vonage adapter and good places to buy ?? |

Your only choice for non-linksys wireless Vonage phone adapters is the Dlink VWR-VR, and I beleive it's only available through Vonage direct (though you, or anyone else, can correct me if I am wrong) But the list of known issues with the VWR's firmware is a mile long.
Honestly, I think you are better off with the Linksys WRTP54G, which is vonage's TI based wireless linksys. It's a lot better than the 54gp2 and vwr. The WRTP54G is available at any of their retail locations, walmart, circuit city, best buy, fry's, etc. |

a lot of posts have been positive on the PAP2 as a stand alone Vonage adapter though I myself have never used it.
Getting a good robust wireless router like the wrtp54g with aftermarket firmware has had good reviews here. |

I think Mundy meant the WRT54G (no P) with the PAP2 stand alone. Everything we've seen in here suggests that that is a good combination if you need wireless. The suggestion that we've been seeing lately for third party firmware is Tomato. The D-link VTA (instead of the PAP2) has also gotten favorable comments. |

Be careful, some WRT54G's have the SPI firewall in them, depending on the version number. I forgot the exact, they do. If you get a router with SPI firewall, make sure to disable it. |

No matter of spi firewalls. We can go ahead and disable it.what i try to say is as suggested by a lot of us in the forum wrt54g along with pap2(v1)/D-Link VTA will be a perfect choice provided no problem with your modem and isp.

since you are telling you loose dial tone and internet i would go with checking the internet before putting these much dollars on the device.
