1. Your location:
Oklahoma

2. Your ISP name and type (cable, DSL, wireless etc):
CableONE, cable

3. Upload and download speeds:
768 up 3MB down

4. Modem make and model:
motorola sbg900

5. Type of Vonage adapter used ie RT31P2 or PAP2:
motorola vt2142

6. Setup of Network ie Modem---->Vonage Adapter-->PC
cablemodem > Vonage device > pc

7. Issue you are experiencing ie dropped calls, choppy audio etc
Went to access Port Forwarding but the when accessing the Access page, user and pass do not allow access. router and router, the default, are used. Page just hangs in infinite cycle. Went to do a hard reset. Doesnt work. The lights do not turn off, the Vonage device does not reboot. Holding for +10 seconds or +60 seconds returns same results.
Changed pc to a static ip - that helped some. Now the page doesnt reload constantly.
The power light is green but is constantly blinking in a 1sec on and off mode. The other two are solid green. Phone light wont come on at all.

Im totally open to suggestions.

Not even a month old and then thing just fries?
Well, I emailed Vonage this morning at 0600 CST and of course they havent even sent me a confirmation message.

I turned off the Vonage device for a few hours and now I cant even access the access page.

CRAP!

HERE IS THE FIX FOR YOUR ISSUE :

1) Remove all wires from MTA VT2142 including the power
2) Conn Power cable ( VT2142 power has a WHITE TAG ).. to differentiate the one with Modem.
3) Push the Reset button for 40 secs
4) unplug the Power from VT2142 & keep it aside

5)Conn Modem --> PC, Login to your MOTOROLA SBG900 modem, Set the Firewall policy to NONE. This keeps the Trafic open for inbound & outbound .

6)Now Remove the Computer from MODEM
7) conn PC to the YELLOW ethernet port in VT2142 & Conn MODEM back to BLUE Internet port in VT2142. Conn the power back to VT2142 & Wait for Power light & phone light to come on. conn phone & u should be getting a dial tone.

Removed all cables from Vonage device.
Reconnected power cable.
Held reset for 45 seconds.
Unplugged Vonage power cable.

SBG900 already has firewall turned off.

Connected yellow to pc, blue to modem.
..... It worked? It WORKS!!!

----------

Ok. Im totally confused.
Yesterday I followed those same instructions except - I held for 60seconds. 15 Seconds is the difference?

Either way - thanks!

think about the Vonage unit as it was just a router. To access the page, the computer has to get an IP address from the device. In the case the computer has an IP, but it's not in the same range than the router is, they won't "understand" each other.

What do you need to do?

if you did a hard resetted the Vonage device, the IP (in case it was changed at some point), it's 192.168.15.1 again, as default.
You need to assign a static IP in this same range to the computer. Example 192.168.15.4... and Vonage's IP as default gateway.

How do you know what's the current computer's ip? GO TO START - RUN - TYPE "CMD" - ENTER - TYPE "IPCONFIG" and it will display the IP, subnet mask and default gateway.

Google STATIC IP WINDOWS XP to know how to assign a static IP to your computer.

I got it all solved now. I installed a hub that I got out of a box and now the pc and the Vonage device both have their ip address and I have no-ip working.
