My guess would be yes, but they don't say so. If you have an ADT system, or plan to get one, why not just ask them?

have ADT alarm system and they refer me to alarm.com, say they don't know about Voip, probably not telling me the truth.

Could be. We've also seen some threads in here in which it became clear that the alarm company techs simply didn't know what they were talking about. If you decide to try it, I have two suggestions. First, make sure that the polarity of the voltage the Vonage system puts on the alarm box is correct. Second, if it doesn't work at first, have the alarm company set their system up to use the slowest communication protocol that they support.

I had ADT for 14 years, but when I switched to Vonage, they would not speak to me. A customer service person said I'd need to replace my system for about $2000.

So, I went with alarm.com. They are terrific. I can control my alarm system myself, and see the status over their monitoring website. It did cost me a bit to install it, but less than 1/2 of the ADT upgrade.

Additional sensors and functions are available and are cheap, and I can control lights - and soon, my HVAC.

The monthly cost is the same as ADT would have charged me, but honestly, the system is superior.

I installed the system myself. I am a techie, but I needed a lot of technical assistance, which alarm.com people provided easily. I got the system up and running in 2 days (including taking out the old sensors).

I say forget ADT and the other big names until they come around.

New companies like alarm.com and Vonage are the future.

ADT has been with me since 2003. I recently changed to Voip (in 2006) and the solution given was to buy their Cellular package. The change was not cheap but I am still with them and the solution offered has worked.

ADT will offer their cell backup solution if you have a relatively new alarm system. Our system was old (>10 years) and would not support the cell service. ADT wanted so much to upgrade we switched to Alarm.com.

Alarm.com also gave us coverage ADT could not offer: we can secure our separate garage, I can program my own system so that each exit can have it's own control. I can add components and best of all, I can monitor it all on the internet.
