from 1600 gmt the chances of making a call successfully reduce dramatically. is it because thats when americans get up and start using the phone? also the call quality is forcing me to consider changing suppliers. i am based in spain and my typical call is to the uk or other european country. does anyone know what steps i can take to improve the quality? i find that i can hear the other party better than they can hear me which sort of leads me to believe its bandwidth related as i have more download than upload. could that be right? if so how can i improve upload? |

I have been a Vonage customer in UK since January 2005, and apart from the odd hickup the call quality is fine. The carrier in UK for Vonage is Gamma Telecom, who have excellent backbones in many european countries, its just that this service is not yet publicly available in Spain, so there is a possibility that your call travels further to the closest server (maybe in US or UK), also check the lag on your internet connection, I am with Tiscali and they tend to slow quite a lot at certain peak times, thus affecting call quality, even in UK. |
