Hello when tried to install the Vonage linksys onto my pc to get to work with my phone i get the following

1. Power light - green
2. Ethernet light - green
3. Phone dark - and plugged in the back of the linksys just a regular phone stand with a cord
4. Internet light - dark, And i have the cable plugged into the linksys and into the motorola surfboard i use comcast cable.

Once in a while the phone line will flash green on the linksys but thats about it. And i have all the cables in the right place.

Ethernet in one of the 3 slots, Phone in the phone part and the spare cable corde to my modem and to the linksys internet part.

Is this the first time you are trying to install your Vonage adapter? If so, then I presume that your old configuration was

Modem -> Computer

Is this correct?

If this is so, then what I recommend is that you turn everything off for at least 5 minutes.

Then power up in this order:

1. Power up modem and wait until all lights are solid.
2. Power up your Vonage adapter and see if all the lights come on.

By the way, I am assuming that you have cable. Is this correct?

If you are using dsl, then I need to know if they installed a program in your computer to get you access to the dsl.

Please let me know if the power up sequence above works for you.

Did wahat you said power down then modem first then linksys adapter but it just has the same thing, And yea it is my first time installing this and was modem computer and i have comcast cable and am in the us.

Power light - Green
Etthernet light - Green
Phone - Black
Internet - Black

Although when i switch the Ethernet cable to the Internet on the back of the linksys it shows green on the internet but black on the ethernet.

Phone never gets a green at all just will flash once in a while, I have the blue cable the linksys came with in the Ethernet

Phone cord from my phone in one of the phone parts, And a same type of blue cable just yellow in my internet part of the linksys that goes to my modem.

If the power down and power up sequence didn't solve it, you might have to clone your computer MAC address.

Follow your users guide and clone the MAC address of your computer. That way, your modem thinks that your Vonage router is your computer.

I think it probably is the MAC address issue at this point.

by the way, what Vonage adapter is it?

oh, that's great, it's the same setup as mine (take a look at my signature at the bottom of my post).

First, what you want to do is disconnect the rt31p2 from your cable modem and connect your computer to the rt31p2.

So now, your setup should be rt31p2 -> ethernet port 1 -> computer

Now turn on the rt31p2 and wait until it's up. Only your ethernet port 1 should be lit. Then turn on your computer.

Once your computer boots up, open up Internet explorer and type in 192.168.15.1 on your address bar.

Now it will ask you for username and password. type in the following:

username; admin
password: admin

Go to the setup tab at the top of the web configuration program.
Now select enable MAC cloning
Then hit the clone button and it will automatically enter the MAC address of your computer into its own.

Then save it.

Afterwards, turn everything off including your modem for 5 mins. then turn on your modem and wait for all the lights.

Then connect your rt31p2 via the internet port to your modem and turn it on.

Wait and see if the phone light blinks two times and it should come on after that. It might be looking for a firmware upgrade as well so please be patient.

hope this helps.
