Hello, Here are some pictures of the ACTIONTEC setting's if this helps out any of your questions. The one the says "NEW HOST" is the connection for the
Vonage
linksys router.

Hello again, from the pictures in the last post, I would say that the Actiontec is assigning it the 192.168.1.4. address, BUT if I disable the port forwarding setup that you see in pictures. I dont think my
Vonage
will let my phone receive or dial out any calls. So are you asking me to temporarily disable the Port Forwarding set up, and see if I can still make or receive calls?
I could , if you need to see...re connect the
Vonage
Linksys RTP 300 Router directly to my Pc so I can get into the setting's of it..and take some more picture's of how that looks, if that will help out your questions. let me know. I hate to change anything now because I dont want to mess anything up and loose my phone (Incoiming or outgoing calls). As far as another poster recommended, I would rather have my Actiontec router first and the Linksys/vonage router next in line. They could have made the interface for the Actiontec router setting's a bit better than what is there now, and also included some directions for Novice like myself.
I have to say my knowledge of fiddling inside the router's setting's is really not that good and I am not too familiar with Static/NAT/DNS/DHCP etc.. Terminology. I can change and configure the basic's, but as I said when it comes to advanced stuff, it is a bit confuzing for me
.as far as building PC'S and installing OS''s or other 3rd party App's, I am more knowledgable and comfotable doing this.
Earlier today I downloaded a 86.4mb file in about 40 seconds..I also included below, picture of my Speakeasy Speed Test Result's with this FIOS Connection..Amazing!!! I also did the
Vonage
Voip
Test and the results are also below in picture.

I don't recommend this configuration if you plan on using FIOS TV, especially video on demand because the guide data and video on demand programming needs to go through the Actiontec router. It also prevents Verizon access to the FIOS router.
That's not true. See RLSTJOHN's post
here. 8th one down.

Just to chime in...according to many on the DSL Reports Verizon FIOS forum it seems Verizon isn't giving out too many NIMs anymore. Some are saying that new installs only get the Actiontec while they offer updated installs (those who are adding TV to existant FIOS Internet) are offered a NIM for their DLink routers (which VZ first gave out). When my installer came to add TV to my service I simply asked for an Actiontec instead of a NIM and he gave me both. So, if you have an Actiontec only and no NIM you must use the Actiontec for VOD and the program guide.

The use of a separate NIM is irrelevant. The fact is that
Vonage
routers aren't designed to handle the type of sustained throughput FIOS is capable of.

I must have misread this, I thought he was going to hang the
Vonage
router off of the FIOS router?

The original poster is, someone else brought that configuration up.

So why did you bring it up in the first place?

Yes, I would like to see if you can place and receive calls if you temporarily disable port forwarding. I have gone over it several times and I can't see any way that the Actiontec port forward to 192.168.15.1.
I guess it is technically possible if the
Vonage
router is somehow using IGRP to indicate to the Actiontec that 192.168.15.x is available and then internally routing it to itself. But even that doesn't really make a lot of sense.
In your "success" you mentioned two changes. You factory reset your
Vonage
router and you set up port forwarding. What I am hoping is that we can identify whether simply the reset worked or whether the port forwarding is required. If we can show it is required then I will put a little more effort into determining why.

Hello Mr Cerrutti,
I deleted the Port Forwarding set up as you requested, and I just called and received a call to my
Vonage
phone,...using my cell phone to try it for incoming and outgoing calls.
seems to be working without the need to do the port forwarding setting.
I will leave it as is and test it out for a few days and report back here, unless I am unable to make or receive calls anytime inbetween now and then.
One thing I still have yet to do is see exactly what setting's are in the
Vonage
setting's page. As I recall All i did what set everything back to default, but will double check it and be sure. I cant recall if I changed the DHCP/PPOE or any other setting's while I was in there , after I reset it all to default, but will check it out and let you know.
so as you said in earlier post, it seems that the actiontec router just assigned the lnksys/vonage rtp300 router an IP Address and it is working without any further tinkering.I dont know why it didnt work when I tried all this on Day one, perhaps I started the linksys too soon, and is was not able to receive the new IP.
as i said earlier the actionetec router is first, then from back of it I have my 2 pc's & the Linksys/vonage rtp300 router connected to lan port's 1,2 & 3 on back of the actiontec. obviously my phone line is connected to back of phone line 1 on linksys rtp 300. all the other 4 lan connections on back of linksys rtp300 are not in use
