I rebooted everything several times the problem just started occurring in the last couple months and now has compounded to be terrible. I have the adaptor plugged into the home phone and quality fr the past year before that was great. I’ve tried unplugging various phones, plugging one phone directly into the adaptor with no luck.

Try changing phone ports. You can do that on line now. If that doesn't work, see what happens if you eliminate the Belkin and plug the RTP300 directly into your modem. |

I've tried putting the RTP300 right after the modem with no luck still tons of static. The phone worked great for over a year and the last two months worse and worse to the point now of unusable.
You mentioned port which one and how do you change I looked on my account and didn't see anything about a port.
Thanks. |

The RTP300 has two phone ports. Assuming that you have just one Vonage line, you're currently using just one of them- probably port 1. Go to your account, select add-ons from the menu, then move a number. |

If the problem is really "static" and not Voip related noise, you should check any wires between the ATA and the phone as well as the curly handset cord if you are using a wired (not cordless) phone. If you are using a cordless phone, you may also try changing the channel - or hooking up a corded phone for a test to see if that fixes the trouble.
For "testing" wired connections - one good way is to "wiggle" the wires around near the connectors while listening on the phone. If that gives you the static that you hear - then you have found your trouble and need new wires or at least new or reattached connectors to fix things. |

I've already tried that plugged the Adapter right after the modem and plugged "3" different phones all have the crackling line noise. Also changed the phone to port 2 and still exists. Vonage was awesome for about a 1 1/2 then this issue has come up in the last couple months I also noticed before this the phone quality used to be loud and started to get fainter. Looks like I am going to have to resort back to a normal land line if I can't get this resolved. |

It seems like your ATA is in the process of slowly failing - have you tried a different one? |

I agree. That would be my next step. |

contact Vonage & have them roll back the firmware. this will normally fix this issue. After firmware is rolled back, do a power cycle on phone adapter |

I called Vonage support again did all the power cycle stuff. Per their request I changed all the RJ cable and during the changing on the phone with support the static noise disappeared. I put the original RJ back and the static was gone so not sure what they did but it went away. Now the only weird thing is I have one phone that when you pick it up clicks in the handset. Oh well all the other phones in the house work. |
