Hi all
I'm trying to configure an ad-hoc network between my laptop and my F1000.
On my laptop, running win XP, all settings are working but my phone doesn't discover the laptop.
Trying to discover my laptop from another pc, all works fine.
Any idea?

Many Thanks

Carlo

The F1000 is looking for network infrastructure, not an Ad Hoc network to a PC. You can connect the F1000 to a PC if you have an access point and both the PC and phone connect to the access point (could be a travel AP or a USB set as an AP). The AP need not be connected to the internet.

What are you trying to do with this configuration?

Do you have a router somewhere in the mix that can give the phone it's IP address, or at least handle what IP address that you enter manually?

I would say that the "simple" solution here would be to replace your router with a WiFi enabled router and run the phone directly off of that. It would give you the advantage of not being dependent on the PC (in case of the PC being off or neding a reboot) for internet access for the phone.

If you want to try connecting this way - then the next question would be if the phone really is not seeing the PC or if it is not connecting. If the PC is set to only connect to 802.11g devices, then it will reject the phone (Vonage phones have 802.11b only). Also, depending on he security of the ad-hoc network - the PC may also not allow the phone to link.

I already know the "simple solution" and i use it every day...
I was only trying an ad-hoc solution and
my question was.... why my phone doesn't see my pc?.
Trying from another laptop ,to connect to mine, all works fine..so my laptop is correctly configured. (802.11a/b/g)

Ok. I've found the problem...
When I select all three standards on my LAPTOP, it tries to negotiate via 802.11g first, while the phone tries via 802.11b only and it fails.
I've forced my laptop on 802.11b only and all works fine...

Bye
