I'll be able to tell you some settings to use once I get home and can check what I've set on my IPCOP QOS setup. In the meantime, perhaps you can confirm that you have your Vonage box connected to the Internet via the router and that it is on a fixed IP address. If not I can give you some help getting that bit done first. |

Ok, so the first thing you'll need to do is get your Vonage box onto a fixed IP address. At the moment it will be getting an IP address automatically from your Safecom box. On the Safecom admin pages you first need to find where 'DHCP' is configured. This is the mechanism through which the Safecom unit gives out IP addresses to computers on your local network. Once you have found this, you'll need to write down an IP address which is outside the range which the safecom gives out via DHCP. Alternatively you could turn off DHCP but you will then need to configure every PC on your network with an IP address. Once you've made a note of an address you can put the Vonage box on you'll need to access its web configuration also and tell it what IP address to be. If this is all a bit confusing, try posting some images of the config pages you think are relevant and we can figure out what to do from there. Don't post anything sensitive such as wireless keys though of course. |

when you say outside the range? what does this mean? for instance if the DHCP is 10.0.0.0
is outside above or below that address?
edit: in fact i understand now XXX.XXX.XXX.001 up to 254 so ill set up this today out of the range of router.
thanks |
