I just subscribed to Vonage with a VTech IP8100 cordless phone. I've noticed that there is always static in the background when using the phone. It doesn't matter who I call, there is always a slight staticy sound. It doesnt really interfere with the call, but I find it rather annoying. The wireless base station is at least 10 feet away from my cable modem & router (Linksys WRT54GS) so I don't think it's interference from those devices. Is this normal or should I exchange this for a different one or ?? |

Does no one use this phone?? I would have thought at least someone could give me some insight... or at least comment on their experience with this phone??? I'm at a bit of a loss to explain the static and would like to know if this is common or maybe I have a defective unit or ???
Thanks. |

I hesitated to answer since I have no experience with the phone, but I haven't seen any complaints indicating that this would be normal for it. The problem may be your internet service. Why don't you run the forum Voip speed test and post the detailed results? If they look clean, then you should probably complain to Vonage about the phone (or to the supplier if you got it at retail). |

Please repeat the test. Then go to the advanced tab and copy and post all the data you see there. |

did you charge the handsets for 20 hrs before putting them to use?i've once heard from Vonage that this is a very good device which causes almost null problems.check if you are using the right power adapter for the base.remove the battery from the handset wait some time and put it back. |

I've had that phone almost from the time they became available. I have no problems with static - ever. |

Quite puzzling. Your test results look pretty good, except for the low QoS, and it's not real apparent what's causing that. At this point I would have surmised that the phone is bad, except that you've already tried another. |

I'm going to try plugging it into my work network and see if it loses the static. I'd like to keep the service, but if it's going to have poor sound quality I'd rather pay a little extra and keep my regular line. |
