Can I use two Vonage adapters at once? I want to buy a new Vonage Voip adapter and wonder does it need to be activated? How do I go about doing this. Can I use 2 adapters at once?

Best regards,
Darrell

It is possible, but for a new user wanting two lines it is easier and <probably> cheaper to use a two line device. Both the Motorola VT2142 (<or>VT2442) or the D-Link VTA can handle two lines. The vt2442 costs $10 more than the vt2142, but has a 4 port switch built in for convenience. The cost of the devices is rebated (free) with only the vt2442 incurring the extra $10.

Order your device online at:

http://www.vonage.com/products.php?lid=nav_products
(on edit, removed live link because it is changed to incorrect target by forum tag)

You can add the second line later, if you need it.

You can also Buy a Vonage phone adapter from any of the retail outlets like Bestbuy, Circuitcity, Fry's.
You can use only one device at a time for one single line. To use 2 diff devices at the same time you need to have 2 lines. Once you get the new device from retail store you need to register it in the Vonage website under Retail activation

Right. But once you've done the activation on line, you can switch service back and forth between the adapters on line as well. As indicated, you can't use both at the same time.

I am in a similar situation, I travel once a month for a week. I don't mind spending the 40 for the USB adapter. Can you please tell me where you would switch the adapter you use and how long does it take to change over.

Thanks, Sam.

You can change between adapters registered to your account right from your Vonage webaccount. The option is under the add-ons section and is called move-a-line. Their site says it may take up to 30 minutes for the change to take effect, but from my experience it is almost instantaneous.

And if, like me, you own an TI DLINK VTA, and you are transferring from that device, be prepared to reboot it after the wait in order for the transfer to complete.
