Post subject: Choppy incoming audio with VPhone
Hi,
Just took our
Vonage
box and vphone down to Argentina and I desperately need to hook it up for work!!
The problem is that the ISP here has provided me with a DSL/USB modem which works fine for getting the computer here online. Unfortunately it does not allow me to hook up my
Vonage
phone (which works with ethernet only).
As an alternative I have a V-phone USB stick which I plugged into the other USB slot on the computer. I´ve made multiple calls all of which have reported back that the outgoing audio is spectacular (ie:they hear me crystal clear), but the incoming is rubbish (I can´t hear them at all)! It is consistently choppy as if the incoming data is bottlenecking somewhere.
I have disabled the firewall and virus software on the computer. This has not helped.
Does anybody have any ideas? Here is the data I pulled off of testmyvoip.com which I do not understand at all.
Any ideas at all would be SO appreciated. Thank you very much
Greig

Hi,
It is fairly rare to have an issue with inboud audio when outbound audio works fine. That being said I would increase the RTP payload (a.k.a ptime) to 20ms and if possible on the V-Phone increase the jitter buffer to the maximum. Most likely
Vonage
support would be able to do this for you.
