I have had no success getting my RTP300 phone jacks to provision when the RTP300 is behind the WRT54G. I want to run it there so that it only has to process traffic from the phones. I push a lot of content up to my web site (www.thanko.info) and I'm having problems with occasional lockups.
I spent over an hour with Linksys last night trying to make this work and got nowhere. We opened the Voip ports on the WRT54G, put the RTP300 in a DMZ, tried connecting the RTP300 through an Ethernet port and the WAN port.
RTP300 is 192.168.0.1 WRT54G is 192.168..0.2
Internet works ok with the RTP300 behind; in fact, everything works fine except the two phone ports.
Any ideas? |

You'll probably get better response to this if you post it in the Voip forum, where the networking gurus tend to hang out. This is the hard wiring forum.
In the meanwhile, those addresses look kind of funny. If the WRT54G is set up as a DHCP server using Linksys defaults, I would expect its address to be 192.168.15.1, and I would expect it to assign an address in the range 192.168.2-255 to the RTP300. Also, if you leave the RTP300 set up as a DHCP server, which isn't necessary with no computers behind it, you'll want to change its subnet to be 192.168.y.xxx, where y is something other than 15. The WRT is using 15, and you don't want conflicting subnets. |

I changed the IPs myself from the default. I turned off the DHCP Server in the RTP300.
Are you saying WRT54G should be 192.168.0.1 or something similar and the RTP300 should be 192.168.something other than 0.1? |

Turning off DHCP in the RTP300 was good. I was saying that the default for the WRT54G would have been different from what you reported. Since you changed it yourself, that explains that.
Are you using DHCP with your computers? If so, I'd go back to square 1. Do a hard reset on both the WRT and the RTP. Then go into the RTP and turn off its DHCP server function. Leave everything else alone. Cable it up using the WAN port on the RTP to a LAN port on the WRT and it should work.
Does the RTP phone service still work if you plug the RTP directly into your modem? |

I appreciate your help, Steve, but all that you've mentioned I've tried.
Yes, the phones work fine if the RTP300 is connected directly to the modem. |

It's probably time to go with my first suggestion- reposting in the Voip forum. Someone there may be able to help. |
