Hi all

I am trying to help my sis set up the foll connection

we have airtel broadband with the beetel 220BX at home.I have connected the linksys pap2 to the modem but the phone port does not lite up.I tried accessing the webpage for the pap2 and verifying the values in there...all of it seems to be right..
In the main page of the pap2 though..it says that Unable to connect to the server...
When i called Vonage they said to use DSL for Voip i need to put a router in btw the pap2 and modem...
I think the beetel 220BX is a modem/router combo...

Pls help me .......

Are you sure that it's a modem/router combo? If so, is it set up as a DHCP server?

Please post all the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum.

If Airtel is providing you a DSL line then PAP2 will not work.As Vonage told, you need to have a router to connect PAP2. You can replace this pap2 with any Vonage router, then you can use your PC as well as phone at the same time

Hi,
I have recently moved to India with my Vonage phone adaptor. I have connected it exactly as suggested by Vonage on the 'Installation' side nav bar following instructions. So I first have the DSL modem (beetel220bx), then my netgear router and then the phone adaptor. And powered them up in the sequence mentioned. The adaptor is stuck at the blink blink blink pause state (getting configuration from Vonage) for last 10 hrs. Please help. I am newbie here.

Please post all the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum.

Do you have a computer plugged into the Netgear router? Are you getting internet connectivity with it? Is it set up to get its IP dynamically? Is the Netgear set up as a DHCP server? Which adapter do you have? Is it still set at its default settings?

Yes, I have a computer plugged into the Netgear router and I am using internet via that. Dynamic IP. Netgear setup as DHCP. The adaptor I am using is Linksys PAP2v2. And I have not modified any settings in it. It should be at the default. I was using the same setup with comcast in Utah too. The internet worked but the phone adaptor does not want to work. In fact, I got a Vonage usb thumb drive as well and was successfully using. That unfortunately got damaged recently (but after I moved the number onto linksys). I apologize, I could not find the 'sticky message'. Hope these tech details will help you help me.

if you're using a netgear router, you may need to open ports in the router for your pap2 tp work properly. you can search for the ports that needs to be opened from the Vonage website. you can also try to put the pap2 in dmz.

Right. And the "sticky message" I was referring to is the one right at the top of this forum, called "What to post when having technical trouble with Vonage...". http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic7191.html

The Voip test that it talks about, found under the Vonage Information item in the menu (top left) should indicate whether the necessary ports are open.
