I am having Vonage from the past 2 yrs and was very happy with the reception. Recently I started hearing lot of static on the line. I work from home and rely heavily on my phone for communication. If I can't fix this quickly, I might need to go back to using traditional land line. So any help would be appreciated.
This is how I am setup, From the comast cable(motorala modem), I go to the vonage(linksys) adpator, then to my wireless(D-Link) router and finally to my computers. From my computer, I connect to my router using cable.
Here are the stats from the test I ran,

---------------------
Download speed: 620016 bps
Upload speed: 29016 bps

what is the exact model number of your modem and other devices?did you try rebooting the devices?is the phone connected to the house wiring?i messed up with power adapter once and when i called customer care they were able to identify this so check for that.this will work only if it is a static problem.

if the audio is going to be garbled look at the packet loss[/quote]Packet loss: you --> server: 49.5 %

Are you sure that's accurate?

That's worse than dial-up

You are having ISP or other connection issues. Try re-cycling power to everything and if nothing improves you've got some troubleshooting to do

Skuruba, your Voip test results are totally wacko, with extremely high losses and maximum pause, and some times not even reported. Please repeat the test. If you get similar results, then plug a computer directly into your modem and test again. Similar results at that level would indicate a problem with your ISP (including your modem). If you get dramatic improvement, then we need to look at your equipment.

I posted this in another thread, but I had similar results using the Voip test on this site.

I tried to do a Voip test from this site just now and here are the results, note that I get 10 Mbps down and around 600 Kbps upload with my cable internet. I have never had this bad of results from this Voip test, must be a problem.

Speed test statistics
---------------------
Download speed: 117552 bps
Upload speed: 609888 bps
Quality of service: 10 %
Download test type: socket
Upload test type: socket
Maximum download pause: 1724 ms
Average download pause: 333 ms
Minimum round trip time to server: 50 ms
Average round trip time to server: 51 ms

Voip test statistics
--------------------
Jitter: you --> server: 5.1 ms
Jitter: server --> you: 8.2 ms
Packet loss: you --> server: 0.0 %
Packet loss: server --> you: 1.8 %
Packet discards: 0.0 %
Packets out of order: 0.0 %
Number of supported Voip lines: 1
Estimated MOS score: 3.6

Now here they are from another Voip site:

Speed test statistics
---------------------
Download speed: 9587712 bps
Upload speed: 608888 bps
Quality of service: 99 %
Download test type: socket
Upload test type: socket
Maximum download pause: 23 ms
Average download pause: 3 ms
Minimum round trip time to server: 58 ms
Average round trip time to server: 211 ms

Voip test statistics
--------------------
Jitter: you --> server: 6.1 ms
Jitter: server --> you: off
Packet loss: you --> server: 0.0 %
Packet loss: server --> you: off
Packet discards: 0.0 %
Packets out of order: 0.0 %
Number of supported Voip lines: 10
Estimated MOS score: 4.0

Jayson above mentioned the power supply issue.... double check that you have the right power supply plugged into your phone adaptor... last year I accidentally connected the wrong supply to my adaptor and behold --- lots of static. Took me a bit to figure that one out Smile
