I live in Northern Virginia, and all of a sudden nobody can call my phone number any more. All they get are "your call cannot be completed as dialed, please check the number and try again".
I just tried to call Vonage customer support, went through all the menus, expected to be put on hold but instead got a message stating "There is nobody available to assist you at this time, please call back later". Then it hung up on me!
What the hell is going on here? |

Same here...
Verizon FIOS in Northern NJ.
Symptoms are that the phone continues to ring after someone picks up - then SOMETIMES you get through after 2-3 rings PAST pickup. Other times we're getting a fast busy or a message...
What irks me the most is that unlike any other normal telco - by the time you get a response it's 9-12 hours later and they are always like - Oh things are working great. Even had someone ring my phone at 2am to make sure it worked. Gotta love those overseas folk being "proactive".
I'm thinking Voip after 2 years isn't really worth it anymore... |

I'm getting the same issue too here in Washington, DC using Comcast Cable as my ISP for Vonage. I'm interested in hearing how widespread this outage is so if you have a location other than the ones posted please post.
I can still place calls and I've been on hold calling Vonage about this for maybe 45 minutes. I can't just sit here so I'm going to hang up and leave now. I'm guessing they are flooded with problem reports coming in over the phone now.
I just went looking for a Vonage forum today to see if my problems were shared by others. Thanks for hosting this Vonage forum. I'll be sure and check back. I also post as Bleep on this forum |

i live in PA - no calls can be received - but i can place calls. Gotta love Vonage - wait time is over 30 minutes for tech help.
UPDATE - calls just started coming in - but no one is on the other side. The caller ID lists them as the people who said they could get through. It seems as if the calls are coming in 10 minutes after the person calls and receives the 'not in service' message. Weird! |

There's another thread right now about not being able to place or receive calls, probably all related to the same thing. Vonage has a message on the dashboard that they are experiencing some technical difficulties.
| Quote: | Some customers are presently experiencing an intermittent issue affecting their ability to make and receive calls.
Our engineers are aware of this issue and are working to resolve it as soon as possible.
Please check your web account for updates. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience in this matter. |

I tried calling Vonage tech support about the same issue.
They hung up on me without even putting me on hold.
I called again and pressed 1 for sales -- someone picked up immediately.
Dear Vonage, if this happens again I will cancel the service. |

I was having the same problem this morning. Placed three separate calls to Tech Support. The first one was barely helpful since the Indian guy barely spoke English.
First call was for no dial tone.
Second call was for no incoming calls.
Third call was for no service again.
I'm back to having normal service (about 10:20am) but my last test call from my cell phone keeps ringing in, even though I haven't made a test call in about 5 minutes.
I am getting really tired of Vonage. Friday afternoon (around 4:30) I lost service for about an hour.
I telecommute, so this is a huge deal for me. I cut off from a client call on Friday afternoon. Not good... |

I've had the same problem all day here in Baltimore. I've been having continue audio problems now for over a month. Customer service makes some changes (supposably), things seem fine for about a week and the audio problems return.
I'm the same as the other post where I telecommute and cannot aford for my phone server to be unreliable. Getting ready to go thru the hassle of switching back to Verizon - even though its twice the money - you just get to a point where it doesn't matter how much it costs you just need to have things work. |

Service has been restored here too. At least the outage was less than 24 hours long. I left Verizon when the line went dead on a beautiful clear day. I called them from my Vonage phone (I had been running both as a test before switching) and Verizon told me they could not come to fix my phone line until Sunday. It was Wednesday. I told them not to bother fixing anything again ever. But I lived on a parkway with a lot of woods and now I'm in an urban area so the Verizon service is probably a lot better. Hmm. |
