I have searched this forum for answers regarding the question already asked. I too have a network like this. Cable Modem, rtp300, router, computer. I am trying to set my qos on my rtp300 voice router. The instruction manual is wrong. I want to know if anyone here knows how to set my qos to let my voice date have the highest priority. Basically the page has 3 priority settings. High Medium and Low. Then it lists these. FTP HTTP Telnet SMTP POP3 Specific Port# Specific Port# Specific Port#
Now this is the setup screen for the RTP300. So is it safe to assume that the Telnet is the one I want to have the highest priority? Thanks for any info. |

It seems as if the issue was never resolved. I suspect that the response from CA190 in the thread you referenced is correct- voice always has priority in the RTP300. Are you having problems with it? |

Yes I am having audio issues. I have talked to Vanage about this, many many times, I think the problem is I have 3 computers on my network and I cant moniter them all when the phone rings. I want to be able to set up the RTP300 to make voice the highest priority and to restrict other networked programs when the phone rings. I am considering buying a new voice box if this one cannot do that, but I dont know if that will help.
The main problem is my issue is very inconsistant. After a reboot everything will work great for a few days up to a few weeks. Then I start getting voice dropping and choppy audio. I usually do a reboot of my network and it seems to fix it temporarily but it always comes back. |

What kind of router do you have? If it's not a good one with good QoS capability, then I'd replace it. Then put the router first and run the RTP300 from it. Use the QoS settings in the router to favor the RTP300.
The bottom line here is that I don't expect the Vonage router/adapters to do very well in demanding applications. |

Thanks for the help.
I have a linksys WRT54G wireless router. The reason I have it behind the RTP300 is because when I was having these problems before, Vonage support had me put it in front. And it worked... for a few weeks. Probably because I reset everything.
I think I will try it in front and give the RTP300 high priority. thanks again |

That sounds like a good move. You may also want to search the forum, particularly for the writings of member NateHoy. The experts seem to like putting third party firmware on that box. The last I heard Nate was using something called Tomato. |
