I use the call forwarding option quite often. When I leave my office, I forwared calls to my cell phone.
While the call forward feature is nice, you have log-on your account, go to the call forward configuration and activate. Not hard or brain surgery, but in my view very unnecessary.
Why can't Vonage make a simple optional desktop utility that always gives you easy access to the things that you do often, like call forwarding. or better yet, figure a way so that a script sends an automated email to the servers which turn on or off call forwarding. And while I'm on this mild rant, why not allow cookies on the log-in and save you from typing in your password? If Vonage insists that we log-in and navigate through their site to configure call forwarding, they can at least speed it up for us (it is very slow in my opinion.) |

I too find it annoying to have to keep logging on to change call forwarding.. or any feature .. but one tip is to select the 'call simultanious number' under the callforwarding settings in features and use your cell phone as this number. While in your office just answer your normal phone ignoring the cell phone .. Walk out of the office and you answer your cell phone . Tubby |

I agree with RG's mild rants - I had thought of this very same applet. I asked Tech Support if they had thought of doing this, and the reply I received was: " we don't have this feature." No Duh...
If they did offer this, or if any adventurous programmer could figure it out, then the desktop icon could change based on if VM was on or off. Quick look to see your status and a double click away from changing it!!
I like Tubby's alternative, I might give that a try. Only thing is that I don't have to call into Vonage for VM from outside my office right now, since I always call forward. This way I'd have to remember to check Vonage for messages as well as my cell phone VM. |
