Vonage still has to be cheaper than having a landline and DSL. Depending which plan you get of course, but here in Canada I pay $39.99 for my Vonage with unlimited long distance and around $48 for my cable internet.
I would go with the cable internet over DSL, I haven't had good speeds with DSL.
so now i have to sign up for cable internet which is 43 a month for me plus i am on the plan for 15 a month for vonage....when if i go back to my landline company it will be cheaper. waste of time and money for me to sign up for Vonage. i did have yahoo.sbc but i am dumb and did not know it was going to be cancelled when my phone was switched.
Naked DSL is a DSL internet connection without a phone line. Normally DSL line needs a phone number but naked DSL doesn't need a phone number but will work at the same speed. You can call SBC yahoo and opt for Naked DSL line for less charge.
How much were you paying before for you dsl and phone? Like others have stated call and get a naked dsl line. Don't give up on Vonage, it is a great service for the price that you pay.

According to your information, it sounds like Vonage already ported your number over using the Letter of Authorization that you completed and gave permission to them to bring the number over.
As far as I know, DSL was one of those features which is supposed to stop the number from transferring, guess this one slipped through the check.
Now, if you went with a Cable provider for internet, keep in mind that more or less cable is a faster, BETTER internet connection. Faster download AND upload speeds which means better phone quality and faster browsing of the internet.
Personally I would rather have Vonage and Cable and pay the same price compared to old school phone and dsl
