Mac Book Pro shared ethernet hookup

Hello,

Mac Book Pro ...just got mine and just got Vonage...by now maybe someone out there has the answer. The Mac Book Pro has the ability to share ethernet (an IP address) with another device. So it would seem logical that I should be able to jump on a wireless network, plug my Vonage modem into the eithernet port and plug my phone in and make a call. When I purchased the service I described that process to Vonage and they said sure...should have known it was a salesman...not a tech guy. Now the big problem is I can't even get a Mac tech guy at Vonage...even after an hour of PC people passing me around and not being able to help. I had an assurance from a supervisor that he knew how that could be accomplished on a PC and what I was asking made sense, but he was not a Mac guy. A Mac tech was scheduled to call me the next day and never did...so I am trying this Forum route.

Can you shed any light on the problem?

Marsha, you've posted this in the hard wiring (house wiring) forum. You'll get a better response if you post it in the VoIP forum, where the networking folks tend to hang out. Include all the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of that forum.
