Post subject: GE 27993GE3-B phone constantly lights up
I have a 2.4ghz GE 27993GE3-B phone (http://www.home-electronics.net/Products/ViewDetail/0,7333,SI5-CNUS-LNUE-LI25-CI200828-PI200141-PGMTAwMDAw-LCUE-PC100817,00.html) which features a backlight when a button is pressed or the phone rings. Unfortunately, with the Linksys device, the phone is constantly lighting up, and even when it's on the charger, it won't charge because it's lighting up so much. This causes the phone to die, and I have to unplug it from the device to let it charge. This happened with packet8 also, but nowhere near as much, and the battery was never affected. Does anyone have any experience or tips for this problem?
Thanks,
John

Same Phone , Same Problem
May not be a issue I bought a new Uniden EXI 5160 for like 40.00 at Walmart , very nice 5.8ghz , just no answering machine. I seen someone else say they used this phone for
Vonage
and so once it charges I will give back a report.

I got another email from
Vonage
indicating they had made more changes on my device. So far, it looks like the phone light up every 10 minutes on the dot, but no more than that. So I'm hoping that's enough so it won't kill the battery. Here's the email I got:
Dear Customer,
Thank you for contacting Technical Support. In regard to your issue
with the MWI light on your phone blinking frequently and draining your
battery, I have adjusted some settings and would like you to retest
this. If the light is still flashing very frequently, please let me
know and I will further investigate.

Well the problem is now completely solved. Here is the last email I got. For anyone who wants to call/email about the same problem, my ticket # is 820368.
John,
There is a setting on the Linksys adapter which refreshes the voicemail
message waiting indicator signal to your phone. By default this is set
at 30 seconds, which is why your phone was lighting way too frequently
causing your battery to drain. I then changed it to 600s (10 mins) and
it was then lighting every 10 mins on the dot. The last change I made
was to 0 in hopes that it would just disable that functionality, which
it seems to have. I made that change at approximately 4:18pm...have you
seen any lighting after this point?
Regards,
Pranav Solanki

Does this mean that you will never get the message indicator now?
My phone, Sony 900Mhz SPP-S9101 cordless phone, flashes a message on my handset every 3-4 sec. stating
Message Waiting
, Is this the same issue? I do like this feature, I would hate to lose it, but every 3 seconds is too much.

Well I sent off a email ..oh 48hrs ago to try and get this fix for myself and no reply from support on 2 diffrent emails , even refrenced your ticket number to make it easy
I really don't want to be on hold for like forever trying to get through on the phone , is this typical for email support to wait 2 + days for a response ? Sorry kinda a newbie question but I have only had
Vonage
a week and I love it , seems long as you don't have a issue it's great.

I didn't have much luck on my first email (I got a response, but when it wasn't fixed, I never got another reply). When the Pranav Solanki guy started emailing me, it was basically in real time for a couple hours. I suggest calling in though, because I think that's how I got this guy to email me.
