Hi everyone,
I am located in Wadsworth, OH and have Wadsnet cable internet service. My router is a Motorola Wireless SBG900 and my Vonage connection is hardwired directly to this modem. At times my audio is extremely choppy. Sometimes it is perfect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have nothing special configured but the firewall is turned off on the Motorola wireless modem/router.

Here is my throughput test result:
Results for uncompressed text test
Loaded 1000000 bytes in 0.431 seconds -- 2265 Kbs (Kilobytes per second) or 18120 kbs (kilobits per second).

My setup is Modem--->Vonage Adapter---->PC

My Vonage adapter is a Dlink VTA.

Below is my speed test result:

try to run the speed test and Voip test when your conversation goes choppy.speed is subject to fluctuations.also call your ISP because the packet loss is high.it should be something close to 0 in both directions.

steveandmm,

take the Vonage TA out and rerun the test. IOW, connect the pc directly to the cable modem.

Here's what I'm looking at in your test. A) Upload speed and QOS, B) download pause, C) as mentioned packet loss. Some of the other numbers aren't great, but they should keep it workable.

warrenkg,

Since it is seems likely that your computer is connected directly to the cable modem. Something there isn't configured correct. You didn't state your exact problem, but it could be choppy audio. I guess verify the above and fill in the details.

Unfortunately, Steveandmm's router is a combination modem/router if I read things right, and the Vonage box is a D-link VTA. There's nothing that can be taken out.

Steveandmm, your max pause is much too high and so are your packet losses. Vonage is not the issue here. There's comething wrong with either your modem/router (including setup issues) or with your internet service. If the router is running a firewall, turn it off temporarily and see if that changes the results. If not, you'll probably need to work the issue with your ISP.
