I have had the linksys wrtp54g wireless router with Vonage service for about 5 months now, and every couple of days I lose wi-fi connectivity for some reason. The router still shows up on my list of available connections, but with a much weaker signal and no security. I have to physically disconnect the power cable from the back of the router, wait a few seconds and plug it back in, and in less than a minute I have full connectivity again.
This affects 2 laptops and 1 desktop computer, so it is not limited to one computer.
My router is running firmware 1.00.62.
Does anyone know of a fix, or is anyone experiencing similar problems?

When the router shows up with no security - are you sure it is our router (with a unique SSID)? If it still has the linksys SSID, you may be finding someone else's router - which could also be part of your problem. A different channel and SSID name could help.

Hi,

I've been having the same problem with my WRTP54G. I've had it for about 5 months now, and recently I'll lose an internet connection to both a wired PC and wireless laptop. The only way to get it back is to pull the plug on the router and plug it back in. The odd thing is that even though my computers lose internet connection (they still have intra-net access) the phone still works (which uses the internet. Anyone know of a solution or new firmware to patch this up??

same things happens to me with this router, when ever I receive call my wireless PC get disconnects and connects when I hang up the phone.

I am having the same issue. I have had this router for about 12 days and I have noticed that the problem only occurs when I start the laptop from suspend or from a shut down state.

And yes, even I noticed that the phone line is on, which made me assume that the router is connected to the internet and it is only the wireless piece that has issues.

I have talked with Vonage tech support and the senior level support tech did something to my router, which I think was ensure that the firmware version is correct and made forced a firmware burn. But still, no change.

Then I called Vonage tech support again and they made me change my channel to 1 because i have a 2.4GHz cordless phone base station nearby.

Finally, on the third call, the senior level tech told me that it seems there may be a bug (or the device is faulty, which I find hard to believe) and if there is a truly a bug, it will only be fixed during the next firmware upgrade.

When does Vonage release new firmware?

Try changing the channel number to a deferent one from the router's configuration.It worked for me.

Have you checked the firmware of your wireless cards? I had a problem for a while that I had to keep running a repair every few minutes on my wireless connection. Many times a reboot of my cable modem and Router would fix this.

Not sure what happened but this no longer happens to me. May have been after the last firmware update for my laptop.

Just fyi, I switched from 'Mixed mode' to 'G-only'. The wireless has been working fine for 2-3 days. Hard to say if that is the problem, but so far, so good.
