trying to get things to work: alcatel 510 adsl modem motorola vt100 box from Vonage wanadoo adsl service
i got the ppooe sorted so that the 510 remains connected, and if i hook the computer straight to it everything works (and i don't need to give the user/password, just plug in the lan cable).
but if i put the moto box in between, the computer looks for an ip address for ages, then reports limited connectivity (it has an ip address but can't even get onto the moto setup screens).
needless to say, no dialtone on the moto box.
any pointers, anybody?
many thanks. |

To program the mot box you need to hook your computer to the PC port on the Mot and I would suggest disconnecting the mot at that time from the 510
Make sure that only one of the boxes (mot or 510) is giving out IP addresses via DHCP. If both of them are doing it you will have trouble.
I would suggest setting up the mot box to give the name and password for PPoE to the 510 and leaving trhe 510 in its original configuration where it does not give out IP addresses. |

i've done all 'a that, and also tried assigning a static i.p. for the computer to get it to see the box as suggested in one of the threads here - no luck.
i'm currently assuming that the moto box is muerte, but the Vonage folks are slow in getting back to me about that. |
