Hey Everyone,
I ran in to some strange issue. I have two types of connection, DSL 64 kbps and E1 56K Dial-up.
Once I use the softphone with codec g729, over the dsl connection, I have a download rate of 30-35 Kbps and upload of 75-85 Kbps!!!
Now, with the same setting (g729), when I use the 56K dial up, I have a flat rate of 30 Kbps download and 40 Kbps upload.
Can anyone suggest a solution to solve the DSL high upload rate? For your information my DSL connection uses a VPN to get routed to the Internet.
Thanx! |

On my first glance, I would say the reason is because that VPN's introduce extra overhead packets, to facilitate routing and switching. That may be why you're seeing that. You could try coming off the VPN directly into an Internet connection to see if it's the same or not. Try running this website's Voip speed test and post your detailed results for us. |

Dave,
Thanx for the update.
Here are the results:
Seattle, WA: Download Speed: 98 kbps (12.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 130 kbps (16.3 KB/sec transfer rate)
Washington, DC: Download Speed: 107 kbps (13.4 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 126 kbps (15.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
However, I have changed my connection to a 128 kpbs DSL now.
Cheers! |
