Is it possible to connect the vonage device directly to the reciever?
Has the internet ever worked there before you tried vonage? |

let's take your vonage box out of the picture for now.
connect it like this:
receiver -> power over ethernet -> computer ethernet card
can you surf the internet?
if yes, did they have you configure your computer in any special way or have you install software etc? |

on your computer, do you have a static ip or do you obtain an ip address automatically?
also, did your isp take down your mac address of your computer? |

When you have it set up as you indicated at the top of the page, can you access the admin pages of the VT2142 at http://192.168.15.1 ? |

Oddly enough, I can't log onto my device that way. I connect it to my computer, and get the framiliar (connected at 100.00mbps) box pop up. I try the address you, and the online instruction manuel, provide for logging in, and it either times out or doesn't connect at all. I tried just hooking the device up with no internet cords connected, and I get the connected at 100.00mbps message, with the same inability to log on
Ideas? |

OK, let's go back to Mundy's question about whether the computer is set up to get its address dynamically (DHCP). The fact that you can't log on to the VT suggests that it isn't. Please check your computer's network setup and see. Don't change anything without being sure that you've taken notes or can remember how to get back to where you started! |
