I'm not a genius but first question would be what happens with LEDs when you do just receiver to Vonage?
If you do not get past one blink and ALSO when you isolate your PC from the network and have only pc/vonage connected you should be able to log to if access to Vonage does not pass one blink and in addition..totally isolated pc with Vonage alone cannot access motorola...consider possibility of defect in the von device...after all ...someone did deliver it...it did pass through an 'unknown' experience after leaving groveport
let me add.. i am not familiar with this type of WAN interface so I may be missing something..actually it doesn't sound right..you have to have had the isp configure something or give you some type of MAC cloning or password or everyone in your neighborhood is going to have free internet.....there are one or more missing ingredients here |

I really hate to ask this steve, but is there anyway you, or someone else here, could give basic instructions on how to do that? It's been too long since my networking class and i've gotten rusty. |

Actually, I'm pretty bad at networking myself, and how you check depends on your computer system. On my Win XP machine, you open Control Panel, then double click network connections, then double click the network card used for your internet connection. Select properties, then highlight internet protocol (TCP/IP). Select properties again and the general tab shows whether automatic addressing is selected. |

you're exactly right. you can alternatively open your command prompt up and type ipconfig. if you see anything in there besides 192.168.15.1, then you know your address is either 1) privately routed or 2) public
if it's something like 89.21.21.12 or something NOT 10.x.x.x or 192.168.x.x, then you definitely have a public ip address, which is probably mac filtered and statically assigned with wireless.
you need to put your PC on dynamic - but WRITE DOWN all the info on that control panel tab. after you change the PC to dynamic, you need to reconnect to Vonage, basically just remove the cable from the pc, wait till you see the "cable disconnected" message, and plug back in...
once that happens run ipconfig again and see if you have a 192.168.15.2 or similar ip address. if you do, now you are on the same subnet as your router and therefore can connect to it.
log into your router... motorolas are router/router for the un/pw, and go to setup and into wan setup. select static IP and put in all that info you had in your computer into your router. that way your router knows how to connect to your isp |
