Hello, everyone.

Using Comcast Cable internet and Vonage Voip via the Motorola VT2442 as provided by Vonage. Windows XP pro and Windows Server 2003 OS's. Firefox 1.5 is my browser.

Up until recently, I've been using my router on my home network without problem. I recently disabled the router's DHCP functionality via the browser-based menues and delegated that task to my Windows Server 2003 box.

When I was using the router's DHCP functionality, I could port forward without issue.

Now, I can't even access the router's port forwarding screen. Whenever I try to access the Port Forwarding menu, a dialog box pops up that says:

Quote:
You must enter an IP address on the LAN Clients page for the selected lan group to enter this setup.

Okay... so, I access the LAN Clients menu. I enter the IP address, hostname, and MAC Address of the machine I wish to forward ports to, as taken from ipconfig /all. When I click save, it erases the information and says "ERROR: Error found on page" and nothing else. Ambiguity++ Confused

I'm kind of at a loss here as to what I need to do and how to fix the error on the LAN Clients page. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Has anyone seen this kind of problem before?

where is the router in the hook-up rite before the server or after the server.

are you still using any firewall functions of the router

If it not passing out IP any more how are you assigning your IPs for your divices.

Does the router have any IP conflicts with the server or the IPs the server is using or giving out.

If the server is doing all the work you may need to set the router up like a switch box or generic hub.

I'm trying to forward that port, no luck.

replace the last 255 in the source netmask to 0 and you have my current settings.

Anyone see what I am doing wrong?

current setup is

wall -> cable modem -> Vonage box, Motorola VT2442 -> router, Linkysys WRT54G

If I remove the Vonage box the port is open.

i suggest you try dmz, that forwards all ports. if that works, then go back and tinker with the port forwarding. check out portforward.com, very helpful

ok I got it to open. The problem was the wrong end IP. Go to Setup -> LAN config and copy those 2 IPs (under Enable DHCP Server). Put your source netmask to 255.255.255.0. Put the port you want to open in all 3 port blanks, enable DMZ. Profit
